TV Listings and Web 2.0
One area of information cataloging, tagging, indexing, etc that has not been impacted to date are those horrible TV listing grids. You know those grids on the TV channel with the unidirectional fix scroll rates and the channel you want always just went by! Or, the page-based ones, like Comcast, that show 3 lines of info but mostly “wasted” ad space.
Well, standby Web 2.0 is coming to TV listings and grids no more!!!
O’Reilly’s Radar blog is reporting (including screenshot) today on Throng’s announcement of world-wide TV listing starting Sept 24. You gotta check out the screenshot in O’Reilly’s blog… recommendation engine-like and tagging applied to TV listings. This really isn’t your father’s (or grandfather’s) TV Guide anymore!!
UNFORTUNELY THEY ARE NOT ADDRESSING THE US MARKET, but we can only hope!
