Scary Trucking Data from North Carolina
According to an article in Asheville Citizen-Times the roads in North Carolina are pretty scary. Here is the data from NC Highway Patrol
for just three days (Tues – Thursday of this week).
214 commercial motor vehicles inspected were inspected.
236 driver violations were issued (26 removed from service). Obviously, some drivers were cited for more than 1 violation.Another words, more than 1 in 10 drivers were not allowed to continue to drive. So what about their vehicles?
283 truck violations were issued (46 trucks removed from service). Obviously, again some trucks had more than 1 violation! But, 2 in 10 were not allowed to continue!
The result was $8,010 in out of service fines.
Regarding truck weights (which also impacts safety and certainly road maintenance) 874 trucks were weighed. With the result of 1,056,320 over-weight pounds and $65,823 over-weight fines.
Not bad (or maybe it is bad) for only 3 days!
