NC Troopers – 5 citations/minute
That’s right; according to the report in today’s Asheville Citizen Times, during the week of Thanksgiving North Carolina troopers wrote an average of more than 5 citations every minute for the entire week. The actual number is 51,185! And BTW, 24,274 were for speeding!
If you figure the average cost of a traffic citation is $150 including court costs (CNN Money and some NC traffic web sites) the state agencies and courts will be getting at least $7.677M! That’s with a big M.
