Future of Cycling on TV
I got a chance to watch George Hincapie win the Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne semi-classic live on my TV for free. But I wasn’t in Belgium, or Europe and neither was I watching OLN. I was watching cycling.tv. This inspired Internet site is simulcasting cycling events over the internet for free. I simply used my laptop with an s-video & audio output to my tv. With a cable modem link at 4Mbps the video stream was full motion. The picture was a little pixelated but this was because of the demand. The site cut the resolution back a bit to keep up with demand. But since this was only their second “broadcast†(the first was Het Volk the day before but was pay-for-view because of license restrictions) it is understandable. An e-mail I received from them indicates they will be increasing their bandwidth.
