Your Right to be an Idiot
Here  is an editorial comment on the First Amendment and the Internet (aka Wikipedia). Great little article. I love the premise….Everyone has a right to be an idiot! Instead of wasting time on everything like displaying the 10 commandments on courthouse walls or mangers on public property wouldn’t it be interesting for the Supreme Court to decide if we have a constitutional right to being an idiot!
The quote I love in this article refers to an old newspaper saying…. If your mother says she loves you, check it out! Boy, we have have alot of reporters that forgot this.
Maybe we need a window to popup with this saying everytime you go to a Blogger, WordPress or LiveJournal site!!
An UPDATE:
It seems that the print world is no different! Recent revelations that James Frey fabricated much of his Oprah Winfrey selected “A Million Little Pieces” points out that fraud is fraud whether in print or on the internet. So who is looking out for you? The answer is nobody!! The Wall Street Journal yesterday reported that publishers don’t do fact checking because it is too expensive.
So what you are left with is that you have to be your own judge, like always!
