Internet Bandwidth Crunch

Within days of the UN Conference on the Internet where world attendees were trying to figure how to add the next 1 Billion users to the Internet, here comes a story in USA Today that by 2010 Internet users “… will experience a slow, subtle degradation, so it’s back to the bad old days of dial-up,” The study author goes on to say “The cool stuff that you’ll want to do will be such a pain in the rear that you won’t do it.”

“The bottleneck will be where Internet traffic goes to the home from cable companies’ coaxial cable lines and the copper wires that phone companies use for DSL”
“To avoid a slowdown, these companies, and increasingly, wireless services providers in North America, must invest up to $55 billion, Nemertes (ed. study author) says. That’s almost 70% more than planned.”

If all this comes to pass can you image the monthly rates!
